Dionaea - flowers and fruits

The flowers of Dionaea are white, protandrous, 5-merous and about 2.5 cm in diameter. They are placed in a corymb on an up to 45 cm long shaft, hence they are highly elevated above the traps. They are dependent on cross-pollination, and it is therefore appropriate that the flowers are elevated above the traps since it minimizes the risk that the pollinators end as prey in the traps. The ovary is unilocular and the fruit is a capsule with plenty of small seeds.
